Managing Your Work

Learn how to organize, access, and manage your strategies, execution reports, and chat history.

Overview

As you create and test strategies, Lona automatically organizes your work into three main categories:

  1. Chats: Conversation history where strategies were created
  2. Strategies: Saved strategy code and parameters
  3. Reports: Execution results and performance data

This guide shows you how to access and manage each type.

The Left Sidebar

Your main navigation hub is the left sidebar, which contains:

  • New Chat: Start creating a new strategy
  • Strategies: View all your saved strategies
  • Reports: Access all execution reports
  • Data: Manage your uploaded data sources
  • Chat History: Recent conversations (visible when expanded)

Tip: Click the arrow icons at the top of the sidebar to expand (→) or collapse (←) it for more screen space.

Managing Strategies

  1. Click Strategies in the left sidebar
  2. You’ll see a list of all your saved strategies

Each strategy card displays:

Strategy Name: The name you gave it during execution Version: Version number (e.g., v1, v2, v3) Framework: The trading framework used (in development mode) Created Date: When the strategy was created Summary: Brief description (if provided)

Strategy Versioning

When you execute a strategy multiple times:

  • Overwrites the existing strategy
  • Updates the version number

Option 2: Create New Version

  • Use a different name during execution
  • Creates a separate strategy entry
  • Both versions are preserved

Best Practice:

"MA Crossover v1" → Initial version "MA Crossover v2" → Optimized parameters "MA Crossover v3" → Added filters "MA Crossover Final" → Production version

Organizing Best Practices

Naming Conventions

Use clear, descriptive names that include:

Strategy Type:

"MA Crossover" "RSI Mean Reversion" "MACD Trend"

Key Parameters:

"MA 10-30" "RSI 14 (30-70)" "MACD 12-26-9"

Market Tested:

"MA 10-30 SPY" "RSI 14 BTCUSDT"

Version:

"MA 10-30 v1" "MA 10-30 v2 Optimized"

Folder Organization Strategy

Although Lona doesn’t currently have folders, you can organize using naming:

[TYPE] [DESCRIPTION] [VERSION] Examples: "MA - 10-30 Fast Crossover v1" "RSI - Mean Reversion 14 v2" "MACD - Trend Following v1"

Cleanup Recommendations

Regularly clean up your workspace:

Delete:

  • ✅ Failed executions that won’t be retried
  • ✅ Early test versions you won’t use
  • ✅ Duplicate reports from parameter testing
  • ✅ Abandoned strategy experiments

Keep:

  • ✅ Successful strategy versions
  • ✅ Best-performing executions
  • ✅ Baseline results for comparison
  • ✅ Strategies you might modify later

Comparing Strategies

Systematic Comparison

To compare different strategies:

  1. Open Reports Page
  2. Filter by date range (select similar execution periods)
  3. Note key metrics (return, Sharpe, drawdown)
  4. Create your own comparison table in a spreadsheet

Example Comparison:

StrategyReturnSharpeMax DDTradesWinner
MA 10-30+24%1.5-12%87← Best Sharpe
MA 20-50+31%1.8-15%62← Best Return
RSI 14+19%1.2-8%124← Lowest DD

Performance Tracking

Create a log of your best strategies:

Strategy: MA 20-50 Crossover Date Tested: 2024-01-15 Data: SPY (2020-2023) Return: 31% Sharpe: 1.8 Max DD: -15% Notes: Best overall performance, consistent returns
